Cockburnspath has a local shop, post office and bowling club and nearby Dunbar has supermarkets, a leisure complex, swimming pool, golf courses, tennis courts, putting green, pubs, hotels and restaurants. Both Edinburgh (32 miles) and Berwick upon Tweed (22 miles) are within easy access via excellent road and rail links (Edinburgh just 25-30 minutes by train from Dunbar).

Cockburnspath is a lovely quiet village and the nearby coastline has been designated a site of special scientific interest.

Amentities

The world renowned golf courses of East Lothian, Muirfield, Dunbar, North Berwick, Gullane are within easy reach and horse-riding, bowling, fishing and shooting can all be arranged nearby.

The local birdlife is quite incredible and the award winning Seabird Centre at nearby North Berwick is a fascinating place to visit.

Also close by is the Museum of Flight, where you can visit the newly arrived Concorde. There are many castles and stately homes to explore in the area, from the ruined fortresses of Tantallon and Dunbar to the spectacular silver staircase at Manderston. Alnwick Castle (where Harry Potter was filmed) and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne are within an hour's drive.
