  Shieling Cottage    

The Shieling Cottage in Cockburnspath near Dunbar in the Scottish Borders provides high standard self catering holiday cottage accommodation. It is an excellent base in Scotland for walkers, bird watchers, golfers, bowlers, fishermen and provides easy access to both the picturesque East Lothian coast with its sandy beaches and Scottish Border area as well as nearby Edinburgh and the Berwickshire coast. 

Cockburnspath is a quiet village at the end of the Southern Upland way, close to the John Muir way and next to Cove and Pease Bay.  Well behaved pets are welcome and all we ask is that you remember that they are on holiday too and must not be left unattended in the cottage or garden.  Please confirm at time of booking your type of pet and it’s needs.

The holiday cottage has been completely renovated and finished to a high standard and combines all the benefits of a modern holiday home combined with the traditional features of a period cottage, including, a real coal fire and secluded patio garden.

Cove harbour is just a short 10-15 minute walk with its secluded sandy beach and rock pools, accessed through the “smugglers” tunnel through the cliffs.

The front garden provides a secluded seating area and patio, which is ideal for those summer barbeques and its south facing position means it benefits from the sun all day.

Conservatory/Dining Area provides seating for 4 and is accessed from the living room, with views to the rear of the property. The back garden area is reached from the conservatory and provides a small secluded area and clothes drying area.

  The accommodation upstairs consists of two bedrooms and a family bathroom. All towels and bedding are supplied.

The master bedroom is a double room with fitted wardrobes and drawer space.

It looks out over the front garden and is a peaceful place to get a great nights sleep. An alarm clock and hairdryer are included.

     second bedroom    

The second bedroom is a twin room with freestanding chest of drawers and robe rail and looks out to the rear garden and over the fields to the back of the cottage.

The family bathroom comprises WC, wash basin and bath, with ample storage space.
